An earthquake measuring 5.3 on the Richter scale struck 10 kilometres from Zavareh area in Isfahan province in the early hours of October 3, IMNA reported.
Iran has experienced 10 earthquakes recently, with the strongest measuring 5.3 on the Richter scale near Zavareh in Isfahan province, according to seismological data from Tehran University's Institute of Geophysics.
According to initial reports, the tremor was felt in Qom and Tehran, but the epicentre was located in Isfahan province, three hours south of the Iranian capital.
Seismographic networks of the National Seismological Centre at Tehran University's Institute of Geophysics recorded the earthquake at 00:05 on October 3.
The earthquake, which occurred at a depth of 10 kilometres, was recorded at coordinates 33.88 degrees latitude and 52.95 degrees longitude.
Other significant earthquakes in recent days include a 4.1 magnitude tremor near Samen in Hamadan province at a depth of five kilometres on September 28, and a 3.7 magnitude earthquake near Haji Abad in southern Khorasan on September 30 at a depth of 10 kilometres.
Several earthquakes measuring 3.0 to 3.7 on the Richter scale were recorded across Kermanshah, Kerman, Alborz, Azerbaijan and other provinces between September 27 and October 2.
The earthquakes occurred at depths ranging from five to 14 kilometres. Seismological data shows clusters of activity in western and central Iran during this period.
