Four Thai civilians lost their lives in two separate incidents on July 24, following rocket strikes allegedly launched from Cambodian territory into neighbouring Thai provinces, according to the Bangkok Post

In the Kap Choeng district of Surin province, two people were killed and another two injured after BM-21 rockets reportedly fired from Cambodia landed in a local village, prompting the evacuation of as many as 40,000 residents to temporary shelters.

Sutthiroj Charoenthanasak, the district chief, confirmed that two rockets hit the village at approximately 9:40am while residents were gathering in preparation for evacuation. Among the four wounded, a 12-year-old child and an adult succumbed to their injuries after being taken to hospital.

Emergency evacuations were carried out across 86 villages, with temporary shelters set up in nearby Prasat district schools. Sutthiroj assured that the shelters were adequately equipped and that the majority of evacuees had arrived safely. However, he added that officials had not yet inspected the strike site due to ongoing artillery activity from the Cambodian side.

Additionally, patients at both Kap Choeng and Phanom Dong Rak hospitals were being relocated after rockets reportedly landed near the ancient Ta Muen temple ruins in the same district. No further injuries from that incident have been confirmed at this stage.

In a separate attack in Si Sa Ket province, two more civilians were reported dead and several others injured after rockets struck a supermarket situated at a petrol station in Ban Phue, located in Kanthararak district. Provincial governor Watthana Phutthichat confirmed the fatalities.

Fire and Rescue Thailand later identified the two victims at the supermarket as students. According to a Thai PBS journalist, their bodies were discovered amidst the wreckage.

The 2nd Army Region shared video footage of the aftermath on its official Facebook page shortly after 11:30am.
