The number of foreign tourist visits increased by 6% to 1.99mn and the number of foreign overnights rose by 4% y/y to 5.4mn in the seven months of the year, the statistics office reported. Meanwhile, the number of domestic tourist arrivals and overnights improved more moderately on the year to 2.2mn and 5.4mn, respectively. The positive tendency in the accumulated numbers is due to the favourable dynamics in H1, as in July alone, the foreign overnights dropped by 1.2% y/y, while those, made by Hungarians, were down by 9.4% y/y. In January-July, the room occupancy in hotels stood at 45% on average, with five and four-star hotels having occupancy rates of 62% and 51%, respectively. The total revenues of accommodation establishments grew by 4% y/y to HUF 133bn (EUR 487.99mn).
