Operating licenses of Romanias major cell operators expire.

By bne IntelliNews November 17, 2011
The licenses of the two major mobile telecom operators Orange and Vodafone expire next, Mediafax and Ziarul Financiar comments. The Parliament repeatedly postponed discussing the electronics telecom bill, drafted by the government earlier in February. The government might promote it in parliament under emergency procedures, but no firm step in this direction was taken. Furthermore, the government officials were not able to explain whether the licenses will be prolonged by default and if yes, whether some fees will be charged to the license holders. Initially in 1997, the two operators (Mobilrom and Mobifon at that time) paid USD 75mn each.
