Croatian insurance market shrinks 0.7% y/y in Jan-Feb.

Croatia's insurance companies reported a combined gross written premium of HRK 1.65bn (EUR 218mn) in Jan-Feb, down by an annual 0.7%, the countrys financial regulator said on its website. The life insurance segment rose 9.4% on the year to HRK 398mn, while the non-life insurance premiums fell 3.5% on the year to HRK 1.25bn. Croatia Osiguranje remained a market leader with premium income of HRK 600.4mn in Jan-Feb, or a market share of 36.3%. In non-life insurance segment, Croatia Osiguranje is a leader with a 43% share in Jan-Feb. It was followed by Allianz Zagreb with an 11.9% share. In the life insurance segment, market leaders are Allianz Zagreb (a 20.5%share) and Croatia Osiguranje again (15.2%).
