Bulgarian parliament will vote the draft decision, filed by ruling centre-right party CEDB for giving back mandate to the government for negotiations over Belene nuclear power plant project. Left Coalition for Bulgarian, the main proponent of the project, has also filed a draft decision to revoke the veto on the construction of the plant that was voted in March. Both decisions will be discussed in parliament next week. On September 26, the government announced that US-based Global Power Consortium has shown interest in buying the Belene nuclear power plant project. The companies participating in this consortium remained unnamed but it was announced that the final group of investors is yet to be formed. Economy and energy minister Delyan Dobrev said that negotiations with the interested investor will be held only under the conditions that Bulgaria does not commit to state or corporate guarantees, long-term contracts for electricity purchase and provided that the investor covers all expenses made by National Electricity Company (NEK).
