Macedonia's unemployment rate increased by 0.9pps y/y and 0.6pps q/q to 31.8% in Q4 2011, according to the labour force survey conducted by the statistics office. In Q4, the labour force decreased by 1.8% on the year to 937,326 persons. The number of the employed dropped by 3.1% y/y to 639,340 and the number of the unemployed rose by 0.9% y/y to 297,986. In Q4, the unemployment rates for the age groups 15-24, 25-49, 50-64, and 65 years and over were 59.4%, 29.5%, 25.2% and 16.1%, respectively.
