The Centre for Free Legal Aid (FLA Centre) of the Ministry of Justice launched in Bishkek on April 22 with support from the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).
The main objective of the FLA Centre is to provide free legal aid, legal education, legal information and access to justice and ensure the rights of certain categories of citizens to state-guaranteed legal aid and increase the level of legal protection for vulnerable population groups. Free legal aid will be provided in the form of consultation, including the provision of legal advice and information on legal issues along with assistance in drafting legal documents.
The UNDP has helped launch 16 FLA Centres across the country between 2016 and 2021. Consultations are provided by qualified lawyers and attorneys belonging to the GGLA system, according to the established schedule.
The opening of the centres was made possible with the cooperation of the Ministry of Justice and the UNDP as part of a project dubbed "Towards sustainable access to justice for legal empowerment in the Kyrgyz Republic" funded by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Finland.
