Russia's Ministry of Education has prepared a digital development 2030 roadmap, which includes such services as free digital educational databases, online tools for teachers, students and parents, and an AI-based system that would check up to 50% of homework, RBC business portal reported citing the document.

As followed by bne IntelliNews, a number of Russian industrial, telecom and internet majors are investing in domestic e-learning solutions.

In December 2020 Russian internet major Mail.ru Group said it would acquire a 25% stake in Uchi Group for RUB3.75bn ($50.2mn) in cash. In January 2021 Severgroup of steel tycoon Alexey Mordashov increased its stake in Netologitya Group e-learnings and data analysis developer to 85% for an estimated RUB2.3bn.

The market could show large upside, as by 2024 already 33% of lessons in Russian schools would have to use digital content, while all high school graduates would have to be able to apply for higher education with an online portfolio. 90% of Russian schools would have to digitalise all red tape and paperwork by 2024, according to the roadmap of the ministry.

Previously the ministry had conceived of the state information system My School, which is integrated into other digital state investment programmes and is planned for launching by 2024.

The ministry also suggested the creation of digital profiles for Russian school pupils, from the first year of primary school that would track their performance and education history.
