China Automotive Industry Report - 2014

This report profiles China’s automotive industry, covering market data and trends up to August 2014. The report also highlights key leading companies including SAIC Motor Corp. Ltd., Beiqi Foton Motor Co. Ltd., Anhui Jianghuai Automobile Co. Ltd., Great Wall Motor Co. Ltd., and Changan Automobile Co. Ltd.

Sales and production of automobiles experienced double-digit growth in 2013. There were more than 100mn passenger vehicles registered in China. Industry concentration was high as the ten largest automakers dominated the industry. Sales of multipurpose vehicles and SUVs soared in 2013.

The State Council introduced new policies that favored the new energy vehicles and resulted in accelerated sales growth in the first six months of 2014. Foreign brands remained influential in China, while Chinese automakers expanded international presence via acquisitions. Chinese Internet companies are deepening their involvements in the automotive industry.
