Number of unemployed in Montenegro drops 2.8% y/y as of Apr 9.

The number of unemployed in Montenegro fell by 2.8% y/y to 31,463 as of April 9, the Employment Agency of Montenegro (ZZZ) announced. The number decreased slightly compared to a week earlier too when it stood at 31,474. The unemployment rate also fell insignificantly over the week to 13.56% (0.01pps). In March, the agency started using active population figure from latest census (232,010), whereas previously, it used data from 2003 (264,276). This led to a substantial increase in the unemployment rate. We calculated the rebased unemployment rate as of end-2011 at 13.2%. This indicated that the unemployment in the country has increased since the start of the year.
