Montenegro's unemployment rate climbs to 12.14% on Oct 1.

Montenegro's unemployment rate rose by 0.05pps in the last week of September to 12.14% on October 1, the country's employment agency ZZZ said in a statement. The number of unemployed dropped by 3.7% y/y to 28,174 as of October 1, when it was, however, higher than a week earlier's 28,057. The number of announced vacancies has reached 35,888 since the start of the year, down 1.2% y/y. In March, the agency started using the active population figure from the latest census (232,010), whereas previously, it used data from 2003 (264,276). This led to a substantial increase in the unemployment rate. We calculated the rebased unemployment rate as of end-2011 at 13.2%. This indicates that the unemployment in the country has declined since the start of the year.
