Macedonias mobile operator ONE has submitted the sole bid at the tender for allocating a 4G frequency, Dnevnik daily reported. The starting price was set at EUR 25mn. The 4G network will be based on the Long Term Evolution (LTE) standard. After the allocation of the radio-frequency, the operator will be required to start providing services to end-users as of September 1, 2013. The 4G operator will be also required to cover 95% of Macedonias territory within four years. ONE is owned by Slovenian state-controlled telecommunication operator Telekom Slovenije. ONE competes with local mobile operators T-Mobile Macedonia (market share of 49.7% at end-June) and Vip operator (owned by Telekom Austria Group, market share of 26% at end-June). |
