By bne IntelliNews September 19, 2011
Kazakhstan will export gas to Kyrgyzstan. The relevant agreement was reached during Kazakh PM Karim Masimov visit to Bishkek. Gas will be supplied by national oil and gas holding KazMunayGas (controlled by national welfare fund SamrukKazyna). The contract details will be agreed by the relevant agencies. The contract is crucial for Kyrgyzstan which until now was dependent on gas supplies from Uzbekistan. The contract also breaks the post-Soviet arrangements that Uzbekistan exports gas to Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan. Kyrgyzstan will be the second country to which Kazakhstan exports gas.
