The EC has asked Bulgaria to recover EUR 24.54mn of EU funds unduly spent under the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) under the clearance of account procedure, the Commission informed in a press release on its website. The found irregularities were as follows: insufficient levels of on-the-spot checks, weaknesses in the LPIS-GIS relating to non-conclusive administrative cross-checks and provision of inaccurate information and insufficient guidance to farmers with regard to area aid. The corrections were proposed for 2009 financial year. The EC has asked also Denmark, Greece, Spain, France, Italy, the Netherlands, Portugal, Romania and United Kingdom to return CAP funds at the total amount of EUR 529.6mn (including Bulgaria). At the same time, a small reimbursement was made to Germany. |
