Chinese company Sino International has launched the production of Nike footwear in Andijan region, Uzbekistan, leather and footwear industry group Uzcharmsanoat has announced.
Nike commissioned Sino to make its footwear in 2019. In the intervening years, the company has prepared a production line according to specified international quality standards and Nike requirements. The line includes technology for shaping the soles and tops of sports shoes.
Work on completing the production line became intermittent due to delays in the supply of equipment caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. Specialist workers were only able to arrive in Uzbekistan to finish the line and train local specialists once the pandemic was declared over.
The Sino International factory is presently sewing 6,000 pairs of sneakers a day, amounting to 1.5mn per year. By the end of this year, the production capacity is to double.
The company has received an official barcode from Nike and the right to produce all Nike footwear designs.
Sino will supply Nike-brand output to the markets of Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan and Turkmenistan. In the future, the company plans to establish exports to Pakistan and European markets.
