Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan discussed cooperation on Customs Union. It was noted that Azerbaijani entrepreneurs have opportunities to access the markets of Customs Union member states through the Aktobe region, the akim of the region Arhimed Muhambetov has noted. Significantly, Azerbaijan is a traditional supplier of food products to the western regions of Kazakhstan (via the Caspian Sea). The regions are trying to position themselves as an entrance point to the market of the Common Economic Space and the Customs Union.
