The average net wage in Montenegro rose by 1.1% y/y to EUR 480 in August, statistics office data showed. The annual increase accelerated slightly from 0.8%, registered in the previous month. Factoring in inflation developments, we calculate a 2.8% annual drop in the average net wage, following a decline of 3.4% y/y in July. Gross earnings remained unchanged from the previous month, staying at EUR 716 in August, but went up by 1% as compared to the year-ago period. In the period Jan-Aug 2012, the average net wage in the country increased at a slower rate than inflation - by 0.6% y/y, compared to consumer prices for the period rising by 4% y/y on average, which should have a containing effect on domestic demand and consumption. |
