Slovakia ́s registered unemployment rate stood at 4.97% in August, remaining unchanged month-on-month, dropping by 0.45 percentage points (pp) year-on-year, announced by the Labour, Social Affairs and Family Centre on September 23.

“The previous dynamics of employment and the resulting decline in the number of unemployed has weakened,” commented the Minister of Social Affairs Jan Richter on unemployment development, adding that the number of vacancies rose to almost 95,000 in August.

The number of job vacancies went up by 1,029 vacancies m/m. The number of jobseekers immediately able to start work amounted to 137,006, going up by 33 m/m (0.02%). It also fell by 11,929, down by 8.01%. The biggest drop 0.06pp was reported in Kosice region, while the highest growth 0.01pp was reported in Nitra region.

The highest unemployment rate was seen in Presov region, amounting to 8.3%, followed by Kosice region with 7.59% and Banska Bystrica region with 6.59%.
