Kazakhstan starts several projects to improve power frame of Astana.

The authorities started several projects aimed to improve the power frame of the capital city of Astana, PM Karim Masimov has reported. He explained that TPP-1 and TPP-2 were being actively modernized and construction of TPP-3 was initiated. The PM also noted that the consumption of thermal energy increased by 11% y/y in Astana last year while electricity consumption went up by 8% y/y. The growth is explained by active exploitation of the social and residential facilities. The authorities are also working on the VL-220 kW ring for optimal power distribution around Astana. The project comprises 3 phases, first of which will be completed in the middle of this year while the whole project will be completed in 2013.
