Iran has extended the cancellation of all domestic and international flights until 2pm on June 26 for passenger safety and flight security reasons.
Majid Akhavan, spokesman for the Ministry of Roads and Urban Development, said the country's airspace remains closed until 2pm on June 26 based on aviation notice number 19 (NOTAM), Tasnim News Agency reported on June 25.
Citizens are requested to avoid visiting airports and to follow flight status updates only through official sources, Akhavan said.
Security services in the country are worried about a potential outbreak of the hot war between Iran and Israel after the enforced ceasefire by Donald Trump on June 23.
Restrictions on the country's airspace will remain in place until conditions return to normal, the spokesman said.
Authorities will provide updates immediately upon the end of the emergency and reopening of the country's airspace, with many people who were visiting the country and resident forced to find other means in recent weeks since the start of the war.
The extension follows recent developments that prompted aviation authorities to prioritise passenger safety and flight security across Iranian airspace.
Other regional countries, including Iraq and Qata,r have tentatively reopened airspace following the cessation of hostilities between the two countries.
Earlier, Qatar Airways announced that it is progressively restoring its flight schedule following the temporary closure of Qatari airspace on June 23, with possible disruptions expected to continue until June 26.
The airline issued a travel alert confirming that travellers with flight dates up to and including June 30 can change their flight dates without fees, valid until July 15, The Peninsula Online reported on June 25.
