Turkish retailer Ramstore has opened two new stores in Macedonia in the last two months as part of its expansion plans, the company's Skopje unit said.

Ramstore, owned by Turkey’s Migros Ticaret, is one of the leading food retailers in the tiny Balkan country.

On August 25, Ramstore opened its fifth Ramstore Express market in the lakeside city of Ohrid and at the end of July it opened a market in Kumanovo, its fourth in the northeastern city, Ramstore Macedonia said on its website.

Ramstore Express markets are designed to enable faster purchases in a small area. The markets offer around 3,500 products from different brands to satisfy the basic needs of buyers, such as fresh fruit, vegetables, meat and other foodstuffs, the company says.

Since it entered the Macedonian market with its first big store in Skopje in June 2005, Ramstore has opened over 22 stores in six cities in Macedonia and has plans for further expansion in future.

It employs over 600 people in the Balkan country.
