US President Donald Trump said the military operation against Iran will end "soon" because there is "practically nothing left to target" in the country, he told Axios on March 11.

"When I want it to end, it will end," Trump said.

The US president said the war was "going great" and that the US and Israel were "significantly ahead of schedule."

"We have inflicted more damage than expected, even within the original six weeks," he said.

Trump said Iran had been hostile not only toward Israel and the United States but toward all Gulf states and the broader Middle East region.

"They were hunting the rest of the Middle East. They are paying for 47 years of death and destruction they have caused. This is payback. They will not get away with it so easily," he said.
