Tehran province reports no shortages of basic goods

Tehran Province has no shortages in the supply and distribution of basic goods, the deputy governor for economic coordination said on June 19.

Heshmatollah Asgari told reporters that a joint market regulation headquarters meeting was held with crisis management officials and construction deputies as fear continue to grow that those remaining in Tehran may be left with no food options with supplies starting to dwindle.

Asgari addressed recent population movements in eastern Tehran Province cities, including Pardis, Damavand and Firoozkooh, particularly Damavand, Mehr news agency reported.

The deputy governor announced decisions on several categories of basic goods and measures to reform cooking oil prices.

Sales networks will be strengthened with greater force, according to the meeting decisions. Meanwhile rice distribution networks will also be reinforced, with chain store sales networks being significantly strengthened, Asgari said.

He addressed concerns over flour and bread supplies, stating that flour restrictions in eastern province cities, particularly Damavand, would be lifted. He also said any amount needed for baking will be supplied without limitations, according to the deputy governor.

Industrial bread factories are rapidly producing bread and no problems exist in this area, Asgari noted. The deputy governor assured residents that no shortages or problems exist in goods supply and distribution. Some deficiencies that occurred were due to population changes rather than supply issues, he explained.

Asgari advised people to make normal purchases and avoid bulk or one-time buying.
