The mobile operator T-Mobile Czech Republic increased its operating profit by 3.4% year-on-year to CZK2.9bn (€113.4mn) in 1Q21, the company announced in its press release.
The revenues from mobile and fixed services, including sales of telephones and equipment, increased by 2.8% annually to CZK7bn, affected by the long-lasting state of emergency during the coronavirus pandemic.
"The last year has clearly shown how necessary digitization is for the lives of citizens, public administration, the education system and for maintaining the competitiveness of companies,” said CEO of T-Mobile Czech Republic and Slovak Telekom Josa Perdomo Lorenzo.
T-Mobile´s competitor, the telecommunication company O2 Czech Republic, belonging to the PPF investment group, increased its net profit by 1.9% y/y to CZK1.29bn (€50mn) in 1Q21. Total consolidated operating income of O2 increased by 5.4% y/y to CZK10.11bn for the first three months, mainly due to a growth in revenues from O2 TV, mobile data, ICT and subsidiaries in Slovakia.
