Romanian entrepreneurs Madalina and Adrian Cocan, the owners of the Laptaria cu Caimac dairy, are considering investing €4mn in what they say will be “the largest kefir plant in Europe”.
For technological reasons, a kefir plant must be entirely dedicated to this product, they explained to Wall Street daily, which is why currently there is no genuine kefir on the Romanian market, only kefir-like products.
"For this factory, we need at least €4mn, for which we will launch a crowdfunding campaign this summer. … The work will last about two years," Adrian Cocan told Wall-street.ro.
In Europe, there are similar production units in countries such as Germany, the UK, Italy and Denmark, but these factories have a daily production capacity lower than the one planned by the Romanian entrepreneurs, Adrian Cocan explained.
Laptaria cu Caimac reported turnover of €9.1mn last year.
