American Airlines will in June 2019 relaunch direct flights between Croatia and the US after a 28-year hiatus by establishing a thrice-weekly flight linking Philadelphia and Dubrovnik, Dubrovnik Airport announced on August 21 in a Facebook post.
Dubrovnik, situated by the Adriatic Sea, is an attractive destination for many Americans, particularly because some sequences for the TV blockbuster Game of Thrones were recorded in its old town.
“Having in mind the increasing number of US tourists coming to the Dubrovnik locality, we are taking this as a huge step forwards for Dubrovnik and the whole of Croatia,” Dubrovnik Airport said in its post.
According to Dubrovnik Airport, American Airlines has scheduled Philadelphia-Dubrovnik flights to operate from June 7, 2019 through September 27, 2019.
It's probably best to visit before Winter Has Come (with apologies to those not in the know where Game of Thrones is concerned!).
