A fire broke out at Abu Dhabi International Airport on March 11 after debris fell from an intercepted projectile, Abu Dhabi's Media Office said, adding that the blaze had been brought under control with no injuries reported.

"The competent authorities in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi have managed to control a fire that broke out at Abu Dhabi International Airport as a result of debris falling following the successful interception by air defences, and the incident did not result in any recorded injuries," the Abu Dhabi Media Office said on X on March 11.

Authorities urged the public to rely solely on official sources for information and to refrain from circulating unverified reports.

The incident is the latest in a series of aerial threats against UAE infrastructure since Iran began retaliatory strikes on Gulf states following the US-Israeli military campaign against Iran that began on February 28.
