The European Union will allocate EUR 2.85mn to support the development of civil society organisations in Albania, the EU delegation to Tirana said in a statement. The European Instrument for Democracy and Human Rights (EIDHR) will support the initiative with EUR 1.2mn and the remaining EUR 1.65mn will be provided under the IPA Civil Society Facility. The EU delegation held a meeting with civil society organisations on March 23 to discuss Albania's progress since November 2010, and receive information about the 2011 Progress Report on Albania's application for EU membership. The focus of the meeting was human rights, especially rights of women, children and the Roma community.
