The President of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), Odile Renaud-Basso, is on a three-day visit to Serbia, the EBRD announced on July 8.

Serbia, a key investment destination for the EBRD, ranks among the top five recipients of the bank's funding. This marks Renaud-Basso's second in-person visit to the country, following meetings in 2023 and a virtual visit during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2021.

"I am very much looking forward to visiting Serbia, a country where the bank has already achieved notable results," said Renaud-Basso. "Serbia is an important investment destination for us, and last year it was the fifth-largest recipient of EBRD funds, with almost €850mn invested in 28 projects."

During her visit, Renaud-Basso is scheduled to meet with representatives of state bodies, clients, members of the business community, and representatives of civil society. On the morning of July 9, she will also meet with  President Aleksandar Vucic.

The EBRD is a leading institutional investor in Serbia, having invested more than €9bn to date through 355 projects, the majority of which support the private sector. The bank's focus in Serbia includes bolstering the competitiveness of the private sector, facilitating the green energy transition and developing sustainable infrastructure.
