Russian dealer/broker BCS Global Markets was voted the best Russia-focused Independent Investment House in the Extel Survey for 2019.

The up and comer is relatively new to the Russian investment banking scene, but has expanded rapidly in the last few years and also has major offices in London and New York to cater to a broad non-Russia clientele to whom it offers regular products and services in addition to its expertise in Emerging Europe.

The Extel Survey is the leading survey of the investment community, which delivers a comprehensive range of rankings, market trends and insights, as well as independent evaluation of quality of performance of buy and sell-side and corporate houses.

BCS Global Markets’ research secured a top position among all key Russian research teams globally and ranked first in Russia Research among independent Russia-focused brokers, coming in among the top four overall and improving on last year’s ranking, BCS said in a press release.

The award-winning research team, led by Kirill Chuyko, head of BCS GM research, comprised of five of the top Russian analysts including economist Vladimir Tikhomirov and strategist Slava Smolyaninov.

The firm’s expertise was highly acknowledged on the overall Emerging EMEA level as the team ranks among the top 10 in seven sectors globally including the number five spot for Anastasia Egazaryan in transportation research.

The firm has made great progress in the macro, equity strategy and fixed income categories. BCS GM was ranked as a top three house for equity strategy, up from fifth place in 2018, with:

It dominated in the small & mid cap research category as it was the second placed team, up from third in 2018, with:

Anastasia Egazaryan securing the #2 spot

Dmitry Skryabin #4

Maria Lukina #5.

The highly acknowledged metals & mining team was again among the top four in 2019 with

with Penka Shopova ranking as #4

and Luis Saenz #7, individually.

The trading & execution arm leapt straight to the #2 place from #6 last year, led by Dmitry Ryzhkov as #3 and Shane Sorg as #4.

Kirill Chuyko, head of BCS Global Markets Research team, said: “The results show unprecedentedly high recognition of our success across our sectors, functions and teams, despite ongoing challenges posed by the Mifid II regulations and Russian sanctions. It is great to be acknowledged for the industry-leading efforts our research team contributes to clients on an on-going basis. We’re continuing to develop our offerings and products into 2019 and beyond to continue to enhance our relationship as a leading Russian investment bank and independent brokerage.”
