Albania has climbed up to 87th position in the latest survey on corruption compiled by Transparency International. In the 2009 edition of the ranking the country was placed at 95th. The ranking includes 178 countries that are ranked from 0 to 10 points, where 10 represents lack of corruption practices, and 0 stands for extremely high level of corruption. Albania's performance improved by 0.1pps y/y, up to 3.2 points. Despite the improvement, the country still laggs far behind its neighbours Croatia, sharing the same place with Macedonia (62nd), Montenegro (69th) and Serbia (78th). Bosnia and Herzegovina was placed 91st in the ranking. The index is based on expert and business surveys conducted in the 178 countries which measures perceptions of corruption. |
