The first of a batch of LET L-410 aircraft has been delivered to Uzbekistan Airways in Tashkent.
The light aircraft landed at the capital's airport on the afternoon of July 15. National carrier Uzbekistan Airways agreed to purchase the 4 L-410s from Czech company LET Aircraft Industries a month ago. They wanted for the purposes of the development of local air transportation and domestic tourism.
Uzbekistan Airways plans to establish L-410 flights to airports with short runways, namely Zarafshan, Shakhrisabz and Andijan. The first such flight will take place this week, it said.
The L-410 can carry up to 19 passengers or 1.8 tonnes of cargo over a maximum distance of 1,500 km. The aircraft has been manufactured by the Czech plant LET (now part of the Omnipol holding) since 1970. According to the manufacturer, it is currently used in more than 60 countries.
In 2018, LET began producing an updated modification of the aircraft — the L-410 NG. It is designed for distances of up to 2,500 km.
