United Arab Emirates renewable energy company Masdar has partnered with Uzbekhydroenergo to evaluate the potential of national hydroelectric power storage projects.

Masdar and Uzbekhydroenergo, a state-owned hydroelectric power producer, said they were looking to enhance Uzbekistan’s renewable energy capacity and address supply challenges.

The companies will study the feasibility of constructing pumped-storage hydroelectric power plants in the Central Asian country.

Pumped hydroelectric storage provides a steady and dependable energy storage solution designed to function at a utility scale.

The agreement is a milestone for Masdar. It marks the company’s inaugural venture into pumped hydropower storage.
