Two large deals lift Damascus bourse turnover to SYP80.8mn

Two transactions worth more than SYP71.5mn ($510,700) dominated trading on the Damascus Securities Exchange on June 3, lifting overall activity and pushing total turnover higher, SANA reported.

According to the exchange's bulletin, the deals helped raise total trading value to SYP80.8mn ($577,100) across 296 transactions involving 2.29mn shares.

Bank of Shahba led the gainers, rising 5% to close at SYP44.10 after 3,228 shares changed hands. Fransabank continued its upward run, climbing 2.99% to SYP25.50 on a volume of 3,320 shares. The National Bank of Investment added 2.21% to SYP12.93 after 13,303 shares were traded, maintaining active participation in the session.

Bemo Saudi Fransi Bank advanced 1.74% to SYP17 with 14,639 shares traded, while the National Agricultural Industries Company recorded a marginal gain of 0.06% to SYP329.35 on just 107 shares.

On the downside, Qatar National Bank led the decliners, falling 3.78% to SYP20.63, followed by Al Baraka Bank, which dropped 2.96% to SYP17.73. The International Bank for Trade and Finance declined 2.64% to SYP16.60, while Al Badia Cement fell 1.84% to SYP756.38, the only industrial stock to lose ground.

Several banks and companies were unchanged with no trading activity, including Syria International Islamic Bank, Cham Bank, Bank of East, Syria Gulf Bank, Arab Bank Syria, Al-Aqeelah Takaful Insurance, United Insurance, Syrian National Insurance, Syrian International Insurance (ARAB), Union Cooperative Insurance and United Group Publishing, along with telecom operators Syriatel and MTN Syria.
