Lithuanian banks deposits portfolio increased by LTL 521mn (EUR 150.9mn) m/m in May and totalled to LTL 43.7bn as of end-May, which indicates portfolios return to the pre-Snoras nationalisation levels. Stasys Kropas, head of the Lithuanian Banks Association, indicated that the numbers show that Lithuanian residents and businesses did not lose trust in the banking system despite of the nationalisation and bankruptcy of bank Snoras. Deposits portfolio has declined dramatically in November of 2011, when bank Snoras declared bankruptcy, yet, the funds have been returned to the depositors and in May the deposits levels reached pre-Snoras levels. |
