Carmaker Jaguar Land Rover Slovakia on October 2 launched a recruitment campaign amid a low unemployment environment in which those available to work demand rewarding wages.
The company is offering 1,000 jobs at its Nitra-based plant which should be operational by the end of 2018. More than 800 blue-collar workers - who will generally receive a monthly salary of between €900 and €1,800 including bonuses which does not include supplementary payments for working overtime shifts - are among the employees being sought.
The scarcity of workers in Slovakia, where joblessness stood at 6.54% in August having fallen from 6.70% in July, was demonstrated earlier this year when Volkswagen's Slovak unit borrowed around 500 workers from Audi's Hungarian factory to meet its demand for employees. Kia Motors' Slovak unit, meanwhile, has reportedly brought in scores of workers from Bulgaria to give it enough manpower to pursue production targets.
JLR is to manufacture the Land Rover Discovery at its Nitra plant to satisfy high demand for the vehicle. The Slovak production lines will supplement current production in the UK.
