Israel conducted strikes against multiple Hezbollah positions in southern Lebanon on January 25, targeting weapons storage facilities and military infrastructure belonging to the group's elite Radwan Force.

"As part of the strikes, the IDF struck Hezbollah's weapon storage facilities and military infrastructure," the IDF stated on January 26. "Additionally, the IDF struck a military structure located in a base used by Hezbollah's 'Radwan Force' to advance terror attacks against IDF troops and the State of Israel."

The operations underscore growing concerns about Lebanon's ability to enforce ceasefire terms requiring Hezbollah's disarmament in the country's south. Lebanese President Joseph Aoun pledged that the country's Armed Forces would assume "full military control" of southern Lebanon. Meanwhile, Lebanese Army commander Rodolphe Haykal is scheduled to visit Washington in early February, where the military's capacity to contain Hezbollah is expected to feature prominently in discussions.

"Hezbollah's activity from these facilities constitutes a violation of the ceasefire understandings between Israel and Lebanon and a threat to the State of Israel," the IDF statement continued.

Hezbollah-aligned Al-Manar reported that, "enemy warplanes launched 14 airstrikes with heavy missiles during three rounds of fighting.

Ten of these strikes targeted the heights of Midoun and Jabbour, two targeted Wadi Barghaz, and two targeted the area known as “Kassarat al-Aroush” between the heights of Rihan and Louaizeh."

The Lebanese outlet alleged that Israel's actions represented "a clear and repeated violation of the ceasefire agreement."

Israel's continued cross-border actions could deepen scepticism about Beirut's ability to constrain Hezbollah. The January 26 announcement followed an IDF update the previous evening confirming the elimination of Muhammad al-Husseini, Hezbollah's Head of Artillery, in Arzoun village.

"In an additional strike conducted earlier today (Sunday), in the Bir al-Sansal area in southern Lebanon, the IDF eliminated the terrorist Jawad Basma, a Hezbollah terrorist who operated at a weapons manufacturing site," the military reported.
