German car parts producer Brose plans to build a €180mn factory in the northern Serbian town of Pancevo, the Serbian government said in a statement.
Serbia attracted 70% of the greenfield investment into the Western Balkans in 2018, according to a report by fDi Intelligence, a data division of the Financial Times. The strong investment cycle is pushing the country’s economy up this year.
Brose will build a factory to produce electric motors for controllers. It will employ 1,100 people, including 460 engineers.
Brose also plans to launch a research and development centre in Serbia, the government said in a statement on Tuesday.
Brose produces electronic motors, doors and seat systems.
