Czech online food delivery service company Rohlik Group has expanded to the German market, and started selling and delivering food in Munich under the brand Knuspr.de, daily e15.cz reported on August 12.

The company also plans to offer its delivery services in Frankfurt next winter, followed by other German cities, Dortmund, Hamburg and Cologne.

"We expect the share of online grocery shopping in Germany to reach 30% in the next five years and we, with Knuspr.de, want to be there when it happens. Our goal is to deliver groceries to around 30mn customers within three years and to become the number one online grocery supplier in Germany in the medium term," said head of Knuspr.de Erich Comor.

Rohlik Group is now active in four countries. Aside from Czechia it also expanded to the Hungarian (Kifli.hu), Austrian (Gurkerl.at) and Bulgarian markets. Rohlik Group founder Tomas Cupr said that further expansions are planned to Romania, Italy, France and Spain.

"Rohlik is seen as a European company that is able to expand rapidly in the very demanding Western European markets. The additional capital is helping us grow faster than we originally planned. It accelerates the development and expansion into new markets, the technological development of our distribution centres and the perfect implementation of innovation throughout the company," Cupr added.

Last month Rohlik raised €100mn in its Series C round of funding led by Index Ventures, which gave it unicorn status, a valuation of €1bn.
