Chinese autonomous vehicle technology company QCraft plans to enter Saudi Arabia's self-driving market and the broader Middle East region.

The company, which specialises in developing advanced autonomous driving technologies, made its first regional appearance at the Commotion Global Summit 2025 held in Riyadh from December 7 to 9.

QCraft's interest in the Middle East follows expansion in Asia and Europe. "We plan to increase our investments and support the local mobility industry through safer and more efficient solutions, relying on clean energy in logistics services," Yu said, according to Al-Eqtisadiah.

The company is preparing to launch pilot and investment projects in Saudi Arabia once market assessment is complete, Yu said. QCraft's Level 2 products have reached approximately 1mn installations globally, whilst Level 4 products have been sold in several cities worldwide including Japan, Singapore and Hong Kong.

"The company has become a major player in the autonomous vehicle sector. We brought RoboBus buses and RoboVan delivery trucks to the Middle East, and we seek to develop partnerships to apply these technologies in daily services," Yu said.

QCraft aims to build an autonomous driving network to improve operational efficiency in the logistics sector whilst providing environmentally friendly and safer mobility solutions.

Saudi Arabia launched the initial application phase for autonomous vehicles in July to implement and develop a smart and safe system for the transport sector.

The move, part of the National Transport and Logistics Strategy, aims to adopt sustainable mobility solutions using the latest artificial intelligence technologies.

The phase saw autonomous vehicles operate in a real environment covering King Khalid International Airport and several vital locations in Riyadh, including highways and selected destinations in the city centre.
