Serbia's Agromehanika signs tractor manufacturing deal with India's Sonalika.

Serbian agriculture machines manufacturer Agromehanika has signed a tractor production deal with India's Sonalika, expecting to produce EUR 80mn worth of machines annually as of 2016, Agromehanika's director general Branislav Rajic told daily Novosti. In 2012 the Serbian plant will only assemble Sonalika tractors but within three years half of the production will be made in Boljevac, where the Serb company is based, and the other half will be still imported from India, Rajic said. Under the contract, Agromehanika will assemble 100 tractors by end-2013, 500 tractors in 2014, and 1,000 in 2015. The tractors will have horsepower of between 20 and 95. Rajic adds that according to the plan the Serbian company should produce 4,000 tractors in 2016, when its annual production will reach EUR 80mn.
