bne IntelliNews is a purveyor of  premium news, comment and analysis to global decision makers, investors and market professionals. We adhere to the highest standards of integrity and editorial independence for over 10 years, including the protection of our customers data and their privacy rights.

This Privacy Policy applies to all websites and web applications which bne IntelliNews produces.

Customers and registered users are free to request or amend any of the personal information we hold about you, or update your marketing preferences of your account by sending an email to sales@intellinews.com. If you have any questions don’t hesitate to get in touch.

 

Information we collect

We collect some or all of the following information about you and your use of the site.

At a minimum customers that register on any of our sites must provide their name and email address to gain access to restricted content.

In addition, users are asked to share: phone number, employer, job title, country of residence, and postal address. In addition, users will be assigned a login user name and password. If you purchase something online then your payment details will be stored by the third party secure payment service WePay based in the USA. In addition we track some of the usage of the site of clicks in emails we send. Lawful basis for processing

We only process personal information where we have a lawful basis for doing so, such as the following:

  • User consent – This is where you have given us explicit permission to process personal information  for a given purpose.
  • Legitimate business purposes – This is where we have a legitimate interest, as a business, to process personal information, such as with identifying copyright abusers.
  • Contractual necessity – This is where we have to process personal information to meet our contractual obligations.
  • Legal obligation – This is where we have to process personal information in order to comply with the law.

 

Who we share your personal information with

We disclose personal information to facilitate the running of our business or to provide specific services you have requested.

Service providers – We engage service providers who provide specific services, which is largely limited to sharing addresses with the printer for customers who have ordered a print copy of the bne magazine.

Institutional customers – If your subscription is provided by your employer or educational institution under a group subscription or trial, we will provide your employer or educational institution with information about your level of activity on the site for the purposes of billing.

Social media providers – Information will be shared with social media platforms where you log in to our Sites via a social media account, or use components on our Sites provided by social media platforms (e.g. the “Facebook Recommend” function).

Other users – Our Sites are publicly accessible and anyone around the world who accesses our Sites will be able to see anything you post, such as comments about an article. We encourage you to use a pseudonym when commenting on our Sites.

 

How long we retain your personal information

We retain the majority of your personal information for as long as your account is active.

If you account is inactive for four months your email will be removed from the automatic mail outs and marketing email blasts.

If you account is inactive for 12 months your contact and all its information will be deleted from our database.

 

How we keep your personal information secure

We store our database of contact information with a third party service provider called Infusion Soft based in the USA, one of the largest provider of email marketing services in that country. All your information is encrypted and inaccessible to the open Internet.

 

Subscriptions

If you buy a subscription it will automatically renew each year on the day you bought it with a 3% annual increase. You may cancel a subscription at any time, but your account will be charged unless you cancel one month or earlier before the date on which the subscription is due to renew. There are no refunds on subscription fees if only part of a subscription is used. bne IntelliNews reserves the right to increase the prices of subscriptions at any time, but in this case you will be given a warning at least one month in advance and the opportunity to cancel your subscription. 

Your rights

Under data protection laws, you have rights as an individual in relation to the personal data we hold about you. These rights include:

  • The right to object to direct marketing;
  • The right to access the personal data that we process about you;
  • The right to request the deletion of your personal data;
  • The right to request the rectification of your personal data.

You can exercise these rights through your account or by contacting customer services at sales@intellinews.com.

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. In the UK, this is the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO).

This policy is effective from 01/01/2016.

Any changes we may make to this privacy policy will be posted on this page. If changes are significant, we may choose to notify you by email or to clearly indicate on our home page that the policy has been updated.
