Serbian and Montenegrin justice ministers Snezana Malovic and Miras Radovic have met in Belgrade to discuss the case of Saric brothers, drug smugglers that have escaped the arrest due to lack of cooperation between police in Serbia and in neighbouring Montenegro. The whereabouts of Darko Saric are unknown. Montenegro said that he fled the country before a Serbian warrant for him was issued. Belgrade has earlier accused Podgorica for protecting criminals after it emerged that Saric brothers recently took Montenegrin citizenship. Montenegro has denied these claims, saying they are aimed at discrediting the country before the EU. Following yesterdays meeting, Belgrade authorities said that current problems in extending legal assistance will be overcome with a more efficient communication of the state prosecution. |
