Peskara votes against undersea power cable linking Italy and Montenegro.

By bne IntelliNews December 15, 2010
The municipal council of Italian Peskara voted against the deployment of an undersea power cable linking Italy and Montenegro across the Adriatic, Vijesti daily reported. The council considers that the project, whose value is EUR 760mn, should be again discussed by the local government. We remind that, Italian electricity transmission system operator Terna and Montenegrin Transmission System (CGES) signed last month an agreement on the construction of the submarine power cable. The interconnection cable between Montenegro and Italy will be 450 km long, 375 km of which will connect both sides of the Adriatic along the seabed, while some 75 km will be on the land. Terna will also build an additional grid infrastructure in the form of a 400kV interconnection cable between Montenegro and Bosnia and Herzegovina and an additional 400 kV cable between Montenegro and Serbia.
