Mobile phone penetration in Montenegro drops to 155.5% in Feb 2013.

Mobile phone penetration in Montenegro dropped to 155.5% at the end of February 2013, from 159.81% at end-Dec 2012 and 163.66% a year earlier, the latest figures of the telecommunications agency showed. The total number of subscribers was 964,158 in February, down 5% on the year and 0.6% on the month. The leading operator in the country - Telenor (former ProMonte, owned by the Norway's Telenor) recorded a 9.1% annual drop in its clients to 371,437in February. It retained a leading position on the market with a 38.5% share down from 40.3% a year earlier. The subscribers of its main rival, T-Mobile (part of Crnogorski Telekom, which also has fixed-line operations), also decreased by 3.7% y/y to 340,950. Its market share however rose to 35.4% from 34.9% at end-February 2012. The client base of the newest player on the market, M:Tel, decreased slightly to 251,771 at end-February 2013 from 251,835 a year earlier while its market share increased to 26.1% from 24.8% over the period.
