Number of Czech online shops rises 16% in 2012.

The number of Czech online shops increased by an annual 16% to 37,000 in 2012, CTK news agency reported citing data from price comparison website Heureka.cz. Most often the newly-opened shops are engaged in the sale of books, fashion and furniture. According to recently released figures from the Czech Electronic Commerce Association (APEK), sales of online shops in the country increased by 16% y/y to CZK 43bn (EUR 1.7bn) in 2012. The growth was attributed to the higher number of clients, while the average annual spending per person declined.
