Kia Motors Slovakia output up 58.3% y/y in Jan-Sep.

Kia Motors Sovakia produced 163,225 cars in the first nine months of 2010, up by 58.3% y/y, news agency TASR reported. In September alone, the company produced over 22,222 vehicles, which is up by 41% compared to September 2009, company spokesman Dusan Dvorak told TASR. The model cee'd accounted for around one-third of the September output while the most wanted model was Kia Sportage. About 29% of the vehicles produced in September were exported to Russia, some 13% went to Germany and 12% were exported to Great Britain, Dvorak added. Kia Motors Slovakia started commercial operations in December 2006. The company has around 2,800 employees and capacity to produce 300,000 units a year. Three models are currently produced at KIA Motors Slovakia - cee'd, the C-segment car, and two SUV models, Sportage and Hyundai ix35. In 2009 the company produced over 150,000 vehicles and 244,000 engines and registered a net profit of EUR 25.9mn.
