Kazakhstan starts harvesting crops.

Kazakhstan began harvesting crops, announced Agriculture Minister Asylzhan Mamytbekov. According to him, about 10% of the area is harvested in the southern regions of the country, with the yield of around 9.5 tonnes per ha. The main regions of the country in this realm are: North Kazakhstan, Akmola and Kostanay. In these regions, grain harvesting will begin later. Kazakhstan is the world's largest exporter of grain. In 2011, the country had a record harvest of almost 27mn tonnes of grain in net weight. Kazakhstan plans to export 15mn tonnes of grain in the 2011-2012 marketing year. At present, Kazakhstan has only 6% of grain crops, which are in poor condition, 94% - in good and satisfactory condition.
