Kazakhstan harvests 3.1mn tonnes of grain as of Aug 22.

Kazakhstan harvested 3.1mn tonnes of grain as of Aug 22, the Agriculture Ministry has reported. The grains were gathered from 4.292mn ha or 27.7% of the total area to be harvested. The average yield was 0.73 tonnes from 1 ha. As of the same date of previous year, Kazakhstan harvested 1.754mn tonnes of grain on 1.247mn ha or 7.7% of the total harvested. The Agriculture Ministry expects to harvest 12.8mn tonnes of grain this year, down from record 29.7mn tonnes in 2011. The average yield is to fall to 0.87 tonnes per 1 ha, from 1.85 tonnes in 2011.
